Festive Favourites

Hello lovelies!
As if it is December already! I'll blink and it'll be Christmas! I've been trying to get my Christmas shopping done asap as I hate leaving these things last minute, however the men in my family are the worst for telling you what they want days before so I still have a few more gifts to get and also write out Christmas cards for friends and family too. I'm getting there slowly but surely. I thought I'd make this post very festive for you all and show you all what I enjoy about this time of year. Enjoy! :)

TMART REVIEW: Makeup Brushes

Hello lovelies!
Today's post is a little different but you know me, I love a little variety now and again. So for a while now I've been in debate about getting a set of makeup brushes for Christmas and I've mmm'd and aah'd for ages and was leaning towards some real techniques ones as I hear good things about them, however not so long ago I was contacted by the lovely folk over at Tmart and was asked if I'd like to review a cosmetic makeup brush set for them, the timing was perfect so I obviously said yes! They come in a small variety of colours but I was particularly drawn to the pale blue. I think it was great price for what you receive too, I'm not a one for having tons of brushes, I'll update my brushes probably over an embarrassing amount of time and only buy the odd one, so this set is ideal because I prefer the bigger brushes for foundation, powder & blush, rather than smaller ones for concealer and lips etc so that was an appealing quality to me.

The brushes are standard size so they fit nicely into my makeup bag. The only issue I had was that it doesn't say what brush is for what, so for any of you who don't know the ins and outs of beauty products then do your research, although I suppose you can use any for whatever you want, but that's just a personal preference of mine. (From L-R) I used the first brush to apply blush to my cheeks, the second I used to blend all my makeup together, the middle brush for powder, the stippling brush to apply my liquid foundation and the brush on the end for contouring. Like I've said, I may have done that wrong but I didn't have any directions for use haha! If any beauty experts know which brush is for what then please let me know below.
I was really impressed with the feel of the brushes too, they felt really soft and gentle on my face and the application of products worked really well. I've been using the stippling brush A LOT since I received these because it blends my NARS Sheer Glow foundation so flawlessly which is a problem I had with a standard foundation brush. I also really like to use the angled brush for applying blush to my cheeks as well and the black and white tipped brush I like to blend my makeup all together after I've applied what I wanted. Just to give you an idea, the first photo of myself, my makeup was applied using these brushes so you could see the effect it has. Hopefully a good one! haha. Overall I really like them and they are really affordable too for under £10 which is an ideal price for someone like me who is wanting to try out the right brushes for the right makeup products, I think they would be a really good Christmas present for those who are wanting to get into makeup etc. and I will definitely be continuing to use them in my everyday makeup.

A WEEK IN OUTFITS 2014

MONDAY
Fairies In The Garden

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!
Try not to faint, but this outfit doesn't have any Topshop pieces in it...I know, I know! Shocking ;)
A while back when hunting for a cuff for the Charity Ball with Matalan, I stumbled upon this absolutely gorgeous kimono and it was love at first sight. It reminds me of an old dress I had that I named "the Icicle dress" and it was very pale blue with the sleeves the same material as this kimono and with little beaded bits on it. For a while I had been thinking it reminds me of something and it was only until my Mam pointed it out that I made the connection. I think the kimono is absolutely beautiful and has such intricate detailing. I feel very ethereal when I wear this.

TUESDAY

Back to normal with the full Topshop outfits here! I was feeling rather inspired by all the talk about festivals that seems to be appearing everywhere I look lately so thought I'd channel my inner festival gal here. It's not something I'd normally wear but I quite like it all together and gives me more styling inspiration when I come to wearing this kimono in a more casual environment. Believe it or not this kimono used to belong to my Mam before I pinched it. It is a really old school Topshop kimono, it even has their old branding tag inside too which I think is a nice touch. I adore the floral print on it and it is so silky soft to wear too. Also another piece I am loving is these shoes! I think they are an amazing dupe for Vans. I got them from Matalan which was a bargain and with added staff discount it was a winner!

Kimono: Topshop (old), Top & Shorts: Topshop, Tights: Asda, Shoes: Matalan

WEDNESDAY

Although it is probably such a cliche to have this jumper and I'm far from a 'full time fashion blogger' anyway, more like a 'when I can be arsed blogger' ha! I couldn't help myself with purchasing this jumper. I really like the style of this, not normally what I'd wear but I was pleasantly surprised by this. It is ridiculously soft inside and super comfy to wear which will be ideal for the colder months.

THURSDAY
Today was a chill day so I thought I'd talk about one of my favourite outfits to wear out. I know Joni jeans are old news but I never saw the appeal of them, I'm more of a Leigh jeans girl (still am!) but when I was in Edinburgh, I decided to give them a try and I really liked how they fit, although they are not the best jeans to wear if you are going for food with the waistband resting against your stomach full of food but that might just be me being awkward, but I think they fit so good and are really comfortable to wear. I've also recently started rocking the half-up/half-down hair do as well as I've been getting a bit sick of using the usual hair styles on myself. Also I have been loving these converse, I've had my eye on them in work for ages and they went in the sale not so long ago so I decided to treat myself. I haven't worn converse since I had my rainbow ones back in Year 8 but I think they are great for this transitional time of year.

Top: Topshop, Jeans: Topshop, Shoes: Matalan

Co-ord: Missguided

I also ventured out to take a new outfit post for the blog but wasn't happy with the way they came out. I've been trying to experiment more with my hair so tried out this half up- half down do. This was the outfit I was sporting as this is the only photo I have remaining of the outfit. I had my eye on this co-ord for aaaaaages and finally had enough saved to treat myself. I think it is super cute! As well as being good together I think it would look paired separately with other items in my wardrobe too.

Top & Shoes: Matalan, Shorts: Asda

FRIDAY

Today was spent waiting around for my car to get MOT'd so I thought why not kill some time and take some pictures. I recently bought these shorts from Asda believe it or not, what a complete bargain they were too! I was really drawn the pattern on them and the floaty material of them make them super comfortable. A perfect item for spring/summer time. I also met my friend for drinks too so decided to style the shorts in a different way. I like this idea of teaming a block colour on top, I think it complements the shorts really well. If I do say so myself ;)
Blazer: Topshop, Top: Matalan, Shorts: Asda

SATURDAY
All the leaves are brown and the coat is grey

I had a trip to town not so long ago and on my way out I found this beautiful dress in Warehouse which for some reason made me think of Carrie Bradshaw a little bit. The material is so soft with the jersey grey part and the soft pleated skirt. I feel super girly in it! Sticking with the grey theme I had been on a shopping ban for a while as there was a student lock-in at the Metro and was saving my pennies for that. Before that I had seen this gorgeous grey coat and I tried it on and really loved it but held off buying it as long as possible, so when it came to the lock-in, I eventually bought it so was a very happy lady! For my birthday I got a few gift vouchers so I put that towards it so thanks Sarah and Jess for those! :) I absolutely love this coat at the moment, I've even wore it with my recent outfit post and I like to wear really bold, colour, quirky dresses and the team it with the coat to smarten them up, so I love that it goes with everything I own :)
Dress: Warehouse, Coat: Topshop, Flats: Matalan

SUNDAY

Today was spent with a rather spontaneous trip to Hamsterly Forest with the other half. It was mild enough weather to walk around so it was an ideal day to go out. It was good to get outside in the fresh air. Always feel in good spirits after doing that :)
Top, Trousers & Shoes: Topshop

Then the evening was spent going on a little date night so this was my outfit of choice. I'm literally obsessed with this dress! I love the strawberry pattern all over it. So so cute and summery, right up my street :)

Glasses Face

Hello lovelies!
I was recently contacted by the lovely Tina over at Firmoo who asked if I'd be interested in trying out their range of glasses. Many of you don't know this but I actually wear glasses, I used to wear them in public since the age of 10 and felt uber self conscious in my awkward teenage girl phase and as soon as I could put contacts in, I saved the glasses wearing for indoors, lazy 'not going anywhere' kind of days. So to even have a photo of me wearing any on the internet is conquering a fear of mine. Maybe it was because I never found a pair that really suited me until last year haha! Anyone with glasses will empathise, I used to hate having to choose a new pair of glasses, being stood with some random sales lady and my Mam both watching me awkwardly and getting impatient in deciding on a pair and just choosing whatever I felt looked OK-ish for the sake of time and discomfort. It's a lot different going into a place by yourself and taking the time to really try out a pair as the attention isn't really on you and you can do it out of your own accord. Anyway Firmoo have this cool option online of uploading a photo of yourself so that you can see how the different pairs are going to fit, which is handy for someone like me who has a small face and a biggish nose, as usually different styles cater for different face shapes, eye shapes etc.
As the pair of glasses I have at home are your usual black and tortoise shell, I thought I would take the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and experiment by getting a pair that is a bit more 'out there' and quirky so I decided on these gorgeous blue and brown ones as I was really drawn to those the most when I was browsing. They arrived really quickly and I was happy to receive them in this really cool case that is based on an old world map (I'm a fan of unusual glasses cases too, so it fit my personal taste perfectly!).  I tried them on and I absolutely love them! I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the colours looked and with them being a big size, I didn't think they'd fit my face properly but they really framed my eyes nicely, so I am very happy with this result!

They have a 'first pair free' offer (excludes postage) for new customers so it is definitely worth giving it a try, especially if you are like me and fancied trying something different. If you want to read more about it look here. Even if you didn't need glasses they have the option of lenses too incase you were wanting some for fashion purposes I would definitely recommend this brand.

Thanks for reading! Let me know what you think :)

Gothic Fairy

 Hello lovelies!
A different post for you all tonight. This weekend at work we are having a Halloween themed weekend for charity, as next week is a big sale so we couldn't do it then. Anyway I thought I would show you a little snippet of what I wore for the evening. I decided to go as a gothic fairy as this was what I had lying around in my box of fancy dress gear and was easy to put together in a small space of time. I enjoyed this look as, if you know me enough you'll notice I love wearing anything floral and lots of colours and this look is the total opposite to my style which was fun to play around with and it also inspired me to use minimal colour in these photos to continue on with the theme. Tonight there was only 3 of us who dressed up but apparently more are getting involved over the weekend so I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with :) Also a  few people actually thought this was my real hair at first and thought I'd suit black hair which was funny, I honestly wish my hair was this long in real life! It's like my dream hair length...maybe one day.
The key elements of my makeup was using my NAKED palette eyeshadow in 'Creep', then I used my FrontCover eyeshadow palette in 'Moonlight' under my eyes and Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick in '04' which is a dark purple colour. My outfit consisted of my black mesh crop top by Missguided layered over a plain black M&S vest and then my black velvet Topshop leggings. My wings, wand and crown I got from Ann Summers and my wig is from Dr Funkenstein.

Thank you for reading!
Let me know if you are doing anything for Halloween and what you are dressing as :)

Tartan Ivy

Hello lovelies!
Another autumnal outfit for you all today. Before I continue can I just say thank you so so much, I was blown away by the feedback on my last post, so many lovely comments, the most I've ever had on a post in my entire blogging life haha and even upto 240 followers on here and 160+ on Bloglovin, thank you so much! I really appreciate it and hello to those new people :D It feels weird doing an outfit with my hair this straight, this is freshly washed hair, I tend to do it before I go to sleep and tie it up so that it has some waves but for this look I felt straight hair went better with my hat and it is always something different isn't it :) Anyway enough rambling about my hair washing, I recently treated myself to this little tartan dress which I think is so adorable! It was bought for future nights out nearer Christmas which I will wear with my hair curled, red lips and black heels or wedges. I wanted to come up with another idea of how to wear it but catered towards during the day so that I can get more wear out of it. After racking my brain I came up with good old fashioned layering! I decided to wear this black long sleeved top and then wear the dress over it which I'm happy with the outcome. As the dress stands out on it's own I would team it with dark accessories to finish off the look. In my last post I mentioned the gorgeous Ivy leaves that crawl up the walls of my bedroom so I decided to put together a few brightly coloured ones for you. Hope it gets you into the autumnal spirit! I'm also doing a guest post over on Sara's blog soon so go over and check it out if you'd like and give her some blog love. Thanks for reading! :)

Tartan Leaves

 Hello lovelies!
Today I thought I'd go for a more Autumnal look, considering it is Autumn after all (well noticed Kate!), I recently wore this outfit to see the Illuminations with some of the girls: Jess, Amelia, her niece Erica, Sarah and Alice. I've been on a hunt for a tartan scarf as soon as they came back in season. I missed out last year and have had it top of my wishlist for ages. The other week I went into town and searched high and low for one, I'm very particular when it comes to clothes, so if I get an idea in my head of a certain style or colour etc. I go out of my way to find the exact one I'm looking for, I wouldn't get a one just for the sake of it, it's like an investment to me. Does anyone else do that? Eventually I found this one from River Island, which is a brand I don't usually go to but came out a very happy customer. It is exactly what I was looking for: colour, tartan, red and soft material. One of the things I love about this season is the Ivy that crawls up the wall of my bedroom, watching the leaves change from lush, bright green to the in between golden yellow/burnt orange phase, to eventually a gorgeous crimson red. For me it really is nature in it's most beautiful glory. Also below I have done the Autumn Tag as I have been wanting to do it for a while and felt it fit in with today's autumnal themed outfit. It might be time to do more tags so that my readers can get to know me a little more on a personal level. Let me know what you think of this idea and hope you enjoy reading my answers :)1) What's your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks/Costa/Cafe Nero etc?
It has got to be a large hot chocolate with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles from Cafe Nero :)

2)Accessories- What do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?
Depending on the weather it varies but usually all 3. I have my brown boots or my glittery Vivienne Westwood boots, boring black gloves and now my new jazzy tartan scarf :)

3)Music- What's your favourite music to listen to during Autumn?
I don't usually have a favourite, just the same as what I normally listen to all year round, just whatever I fancy listening to at the time :)

4)Perfume- What's your favourite scent for this time of year?
My signature scent is what I wear all year round, DKNY Be Delicious :)

5)Candles- What scenes will you be burning this season?
I've been really drawn to a one in Matalan called Vanilla Sugar, smells gorgeous!

6)What do you love most about Autumn?
The changing of the leaves, drinking hot chocolate and wrapping up in cute scarves and jumpers

7)Favourite make-up look?
I usually go for more shimmery brown tones as opposed to my usual golden ones and maybe throw in the odd red and plum lip :)Dress: Topshop, Scarf: River Island, Shoes: Matalan, Tights: Asda

And At Last I See The Lights

Hello lovelies!
The other evening, the girls and I paid a visit to the Illuminations. Last year they did Alice in Wonderland and this year they did the same theme, which was great as last year I took some pictures on my phone which were poor quality and then I broke that phone so didn't have them anymore, however that meant this year I could take my camera with me and take some good quality shots. My favourite illuminations have to be the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat and the Deck of Cards. Also in the park they had a water feature which had water spurt out in time with songs playing nearby and had different colour changes throughout too. It doesn't really take too long to wander round and have a look but I like the sense of community it brings, seeing local people come together to appreciate it.
Have you been to visit the Illuminations? Do you like them? Let me know :)

Disney On Ice: 100 Years Of Magic

Hello lovelies!
The other night I took my Mam to see Disney On Ice: 100 Years Of Magic as an early birthday present for her. I had never been before but I thought it was fantastic! It combined ice-skating and Disney, two of my favourite things, what more could I ask for?! The costumes were gorgeous and it was great to hear the variety of songs from the different films. It brought back so many feelings from my 21st in Disney World. My favourite performances had to be Beauty and the Beast, they even reenacted the death of the Beast and I could feel myself welling up like a saddo haha! Mulan was another fantastic one. I was pleasantly surprised by The Incredibles and Aladdin, they did loads of acrobatic skating which was incredible, I'd love to be able to do that! And of course It's A Small World, which brings back so many DisneyWorld Florida memories, not only from my 21st but old family holidays too. My 5 year old self would have been loving her life ;) For my first time of going I thoroughly enjoyed it and having some mother-daughter time. I would definitely go again! :)

My First Lush Haul

Hello lovelies!
First of all, thank you very much for your ongoing support with this blog, I have reached 220+ followers on here and 140+ on Bloglovin so thank you very much, I really appreciate it so much and hello and welcome to those new followers :)
I have heard so much about Lush and I've been so undecided about purchasing Lush products for ages but I've seen tons of bloggers singing their praises all over the bloggesphere so I thought why not go all out and get a ton of Valentine's Day & Christmas themed products to try and see what the hype is all about. One of the things that I'm always drawn to is seeing how they come out in the bath, being able to see all those colourful swirls and effects the products create in the water, so I can't wait to try these out and share with you the effects they make :)

A New Chapter

Hello lovelies!
Since finishing University in June, this will be my first September where I am not starting a new School/College/Sixth Form/or University year. It is a very strange feeling from being in education from very little and going through it for many years seems so normal and now to eventually be finished I'm very excited about not having to do all that and beginning a new chapter of my life is an awesome feeling. I finally feel more freedom and have spare time to enjoy doing things I haven't done in so long. People say the 'real world' is a scary place but honestly, I have never felt more at ease.
Onto the haul, September is usually the time to be starting a new chapter of School/College/University and I've always enjoyed getting myself prepared for it, there's always one thing I enjoy buying, yes you guessed it! It's stationary! I've been after a few bits and pieces to spruce up my boring desk space and Paperchase is by far my favourite stationary brand due to it's cute, quirky items which so perfectly fit my style so I naturally ventured in and came out with these goodies:
First we have the 'Beside the seaside' scrapbook, which I have bought to finally get round to sticking in the many magazine clippings I have collected over the years inside it as I have a ginormous pile next to my bed that needs a home and now I can get around to doing it.
Second is the patch work, hand-stitched journal. Those are my go-to favourites as I regularly write a diary and I really like these for the amount of paper you get, a comfortable size to carry round with you (if you prefer to do that) and the variety of ones they have are always so pretty and in such a range of colours. I also like the feel of them too. Next up is these ADORABLE turtle push pins! Honestly aren't they the cutest?!! Beats a boring circular, brass coloured pin doesn't it :)These seriously cute pieces I just could not resist buying! The bunny is a hole puncher and the lady bird is a mini stapler. Adorable X 2!Lastly are these postcards which have quotes on them. I chose these mainly for the quotes but I was also drawn in by the colours and the typography too (my inner artyness coming out there!). The idea I have for making use of these is to find some pretty frames for them and have them as decorative pieces around my room as I think they would brighten it up and look cute.

Thanks for reading and let me know below if you like any of these pieces too :)
