New Year's Eve Prep. 2012

As we all know, tonight is the last night of 2012! And what a year it has been! One of the best I've had in a long time I think <3 I feel like this year I have done so much and I've made new friends and brilliant memories that I can carry with me into the new year. Although I can't help but have this annoying, niggling feeling of uneasiness about what the new year will bring, I am going to put that negativity behind me and focus of being positive! Positive that 2013 is going to bring great things our way! 

Tonight I am going out for a meal with my boyfriend and his family at my favourite local restaurant, Luciano's and I can't wait! Great food and great company, the perfect combination <3

Before I head out for the night, I decided to put together a 'get ready with me' post on how I prepared myself for tonight's festivities:

I begin by pampering myself with my favourite shower gel, Palmolive Naturals Nourishing Delight in Milk & Honey. It feels so soft on my skin and it smells incredible! I've also tried the other scents from their Naturals collection too; Coconut & Milk, Olive & Milk and Almond & Milk to change things up every once in a while, but the Honey & Milk scent is my favourite. They are all great products and I highly recommend them.

Next up I wash my brunette locks with TRESemé Volume & Body: 24 Hour Body With Silk Proteins Shampoo. I use this to give my hair a bit of oomph and volume as my hair is usually quite fine and can look flat when I use the wrong products on it. I like my hair to look messy and untamed, not super straight and this shampoo gives me the desired effect I'm after. I rarely use conditioner as I find again, it can make my hair look horrendously flat so I try as much as possible to avoid products that do that to my hair.

Whilst leaving my hair a little while to dry naturally before going over it with a hairdryer, I then fetch out my favourite moisturiser of all time, Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Moisturiser! I initially came across this moisturiser when a small sample bottle was distributed alongside a copy of Glamour magazine. It was one of the few samples from magazines I've tried out and I'm so pleased that I did because I was seriously impressed with the result!

I've tried a few moisturisers over the years and this is by far the one that stands out the most to me, so much so that I've repurchased it repeatedly. Normally I only use a small amount of product on my cheeks as the winter weather can really dry them out, but today I thought I'd go all out and smother my entire face in the moisturiser as a little pick me up for my skin. The end result gives a healthy, dewy glow.

Now onto the smelly stuff! I love perfume and the way it can elevate my mood and make me feel more put together when I wear it. My favourite perfume is DKNY Be Delicious Eau de Parfum and I just got a new bottle of this for Christmas off my Gran (thanks Gran!). It smells lovely; a fruity and floral fragrance that isn't too overpowering like some perfumes can be. I adore this DKNY Be Delicious perfume and although I have tried a variety of perfumes over the years, this one will always be my favourite. I've gone through so many bottles, it's ridiculous!

Next up is the makeup and jewellery. I like to keep my makeup pretty natural looking for everyday wear but for evenings I'll level it up by adding either a bright lipstick or some false eyelashes. For tonight, I'm ringing in the new year by going for a meal, so I've chosen a bright hot pink lipstick, deep red nails and my new adorable Vivienne Westwood teddy bear drop earrings that I just got for Christmas, they're so cute! <3

Finally, last but not least is my outfit for tonight! I've chosen this gorgeous, sparkly, multicoloured sequinned dress from Topshop, which I absolutely love! Although it's sometimes hard to find the appropriate occasion to wear it. In fact, the last time I wore this was last New Year's Eve! I definitely feel this dress needs a night out, so what better time to wear it than for this NYE! I need to find more occasions to wear this in future. Who knows, it may become my go-to dress every year! ;) Anyway I'm off to celebrate the end of a fantastic year with a meal at Luciano's restaurant with my boyfriend and his family. Food and champagne at the ready guys!
