Valentine's Day 2015

Happy Valentine's Day!

As you may already know from last year, I absolutely love Valentine's Day. I think it's so sweet that there's a day completely dedicated to celebrating love and showing the special people in your life how much they mean to you or even just having a day to completely spoil yourself with no judgement ;) It doesn't matter if I'm with someone or not I still always make the most of the day. I love going a bit over the top with these special occasions; wearing anything red, pink or heart shaped prints, as you can see from my attire above.

The outfit above was initially what I had planned to wear if we were going out for food during the day which is why I photographed it for the blog. It takes my TFNC London dress I wore last year and layering this cute embroidered lip print jumper from Primark over the top for a more day time look but smartened up with my favourite heart heels from Vivienne Westwood and my red lips clutch from Lulu Guinness. 

Instead I wore a different dress which unfortunately I didn't photograph, but I wore the same heels and clutch with it and a delicate red heart ring from Pandora (another present from Dan <3). The dress in question was this gorgeous bright red body con dress from Missguided with cross back straps. I felt very slinky in it which is unlike me, ha! I'd bought the dress last year and was adamant I was going to save it to wear for Valentine's day as it's first day out (sad, I know). With my last minute V-day plans I was so keen to wear it that I'd have even wore it to pick up a takeaway pizza from Domino's or a drive-thru MaccyDs haha! Luckily we managed to get into Zizzi at the last minute so that setting felt a bit more appropriate for the attire ;)

The week building up to Valentine's day was not the same as it normally is. I'm usually really buzzing with excitement but my Grandad recently passed away (hence why I haven't blogged so much either) and we had been planning the funeral so I hadn't really felt in the best frame of mind for even talking about making plans for anything, let alone Valentine's day. Plus I was initially meant to be working too so I just thought this year can be a write off this time.

Eventually things calmed down at home and my shift was cancelled so I took that as a sign to pick myself up and make the most of celebrating something positive right now. 

As always Dan spoilt me rotten! I was greeted in the morning with this gorgeous bouquet of flowers that had a lovely bright sunflower, lilies and a glittery red rose within them. I also got a really cute necklace which I'd seen on Not On The High Street which was a silver envelope and inside was a tiny piece of wooden card with the words "I love you" and the date of our anniversary carved in it. 

For our evening plans we headed out to have our delicious meal at Zizzi and then went to see Kingsman: The Secret Service. On first impressions of the trailer for the film I thought it looked good but after watching it I thought it was much better than I had anticipated; full of action and funny moments (And Colin Firth: swoon!). I'd definitely recommend it :) I had a lovely day and it was just the pick me up I needed after a tough few weeks <3
