Hello, I'm Kate. A 27 year old Media Coordinator and occasional lifestyle blogger from the North East of England, who is interested in seeing the world and playing video games. Welcome to my blog, Violet Daffodils. Where I focus primarily on the topics of lifestyle, travel and gaming.

Violet Daffodils started back in April 2012 during my spare time at university. I had always been an avid documenter, having always taken photographs, wrote diaries and had the latest social media pages that the kids were talking about (lol who remembers the days of Piczo websites, Bebo, Habbo Hotel and Myspace?) and when I eventually discovered the world of blogging through magazines like Company magazine, it was another creative outlet for me to dive into and enjoy.

In the 7 years, I have been blogging I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with PR companies to promote brand awareness on products and services in fashion, beauty and more, some brands include New Look, Warehouse, TessutiGiffGaffGameplan and Printiki. I have also featured on a variety of websites, blogs and social media and worked with guest bloggers. All of which you can view on the Collaborations and Features pages of this website.

Alongside writing this blog, I studied Illustration and Design at the University of Sunderland, where I have gone on to work in my current job in the design industry as a media coordinator for a type foundry, where I have worked for over 3 years now and thoroughly enjoy the work I do.

In my spare time I am often found doing any of the following; socialising with friends and family, where I like to dine out, visit the cinema, play pool, go to gigs, go to the theatre, go bowling and have days out with occasional activities (e.g. ice skating, fruit picking etc.). On more quieter days I can be found either walking our family dog, Luna who is our year and half old golden Labrador pup, documenting my life through a multitude of photographs and video clips, planning my next travel destination or playing on my Xbox.

From a young age, I've been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to travel to many places around the world with my family and friends. My childhood saw many family trips to Portugal, Spain and Disney World in Florida, then growing up I've been to various places in North and South America, Hawaii, from the Maldives to Egypt to Malaysia, to multiple locations in Australia and Europe. All of which have held extraordinary memories to me that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Having been able to see the world from a young age not only makes me feel very grateful but has been the source of what gave me the travel bug and I continue to try and see as much of the world as often I can (funds depending!). At present, I'm currently in the process of planning a few solo stints around Europe which I hope to cross off the bucket list in the coming years and potentially, I also hope to volunteer abroad at some point too, where I would like to focus my attention on sea life conservation.

Growing up, playing video games has been a massive part of my life. From the early days of watching my brother play on his consoles when I was little, up to the days where I got my first GameBoy (it was bright yellow, and I remember playing Barbie's Ocean Discovery and The Jungle Book religiously), to him and I playing WWF games on his Playstation, to the days of playing trading Pokemon on the Red, Yellow, Crystal, Silver, Sapphire, etc. versions on my Gameboy Colour and Gameboy Advance. To my teens, playing The Sims series, Barbie games and Petz on the PC to playing the Spyro series, Theme Hospital, Theme Park World, Space Jam, 101 Dalmatians, Rugrats: The Search For Reptar and Totally Angelica and The Simpsons Wrestling on the Playstation to my most very fondest days of my teenage years playing the Gamecube with Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, Animal Crossing, Mario Party series, Spyro Enter The Dragonfly, Marykate & Ashley: Sweet 16 Licensed To Drive and Sonic Heroes.

Those games, their characters and narratives have moulded me into the gamer I am today. Fast forward to more recent years of similar games on my Nintendo 3DS and branching out into different genres on my Xbox One with games such as Telltale's The Walking Dead series, Life Is Strange series and Red Dead Redemption 1& 2, among many other games that take over my life in my spare time.

That's enough about me for one day! I hope this gives you a better insight into the blogger behind the blog. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read and engage with my content. I appreciate you taking the time to do so, and I hope you enjoy it!
