Fashion Trends: Tops For Next Spring/Summer

*AD - sponsored post

Fashion trends: What tops are going to be in next spring/summer?

Even though the weather is still cold and the warmth of the sun seems a long way away, it’s time to anticipate it and start planning your new spring and summer tops. On the catwalks, they’ve been parading the 2013 spring and summer collections since before Christmas, and today we'll be sharing with you what is trending for the upcoming season. Here are some tops tips:

Judging from the Paris and Milan shows, we will be seeing richly dyed faux crocodile print and faux suede t-shirts being very popular materials. Although bold patterns and materials aren't for everyone, the trick is to find pieces that won't overpower the design such as bold trousers or a skirt and jacket with a softer top or accessories. In fact any top that has anything remotely connected to the jungle will be popular too. We're talking printed faux animal print and animal imagery both wild or domestic. We'll also see bohemian styles mixed with some edge with sweeping multi-layered dresses teamed with short leather laced boots too.

To contrast, for a more softer style of top, then gossamer chiffon shirts and blouses are also spotlighted for the season. Women’s tops will also be embellished with sequins, gems and beads to give that something extra to an outfit.

If you want a cosier, casual everyday look, then this spring/summer lightweight cardigans will be all the rage. They are a great piece to have on hand for the every changing weather and a great pairing with your chosen top.  Whether you go for one that is monochromatic with two or three buttons, or various textures such as cabling with twin pockets and a zip, you’ll be seeing a lot of these hitting the shops soon enough.

As for colours - you may expect there’ll be the obligatory light greens for the tender shoots of Spring, and poppy reds for Summer. However we will see alongside those colours; nectarine, lemon and various hues of blue. Those of which will look particularly good on soft collarless blouses.

And there we have it! Don’t forget that although these are the upcoming trends, they are not rules we must follow, just are a few ideas to potentially look out for and try out, whether that is buying a new piece to update your wardrobe or even experimenting with what you already own. Let's keep an eye out in our local stores and check online fashion sites to see which of these trends we come across as soon as the first glimpses of Spring appear.
