For a while now I have contemplated dying my hair a little more adventurous than I usually do as I was getting in a bit of a hair rut with my brunette locks. I've always been quite drawn to the lilac dip dye effect so after purchasing this La Riche DIRECTION Lilac Semi-Permanent Hair Colour* lilac hair dye, I decided to give it a try. First thing I had to do was dip dye my hair blonde in order to do this so that the colour results were more vibrant. I'd recommend doing that before you do anything else. To do this I used the L'Oréal Wild Ombrés to get the ends of my hair blonde, which took 30mins for it to take effect. Then using the comb that came with it, I covered the comb with the Directions lilac hair dye and brushed it into my hair until all the blonde bits were completely covered. The above photo was the final result.

To be honest I was pretty disappointed with how it turned out. I was hoping for a much more in-your-face pastel shade which as you can see didn't do that at all. I think it might be because the blonde dye I did beforehand wasn't light enough for the colour to show it's full vibrancy. But never mind, I'm still pleased that I gave it a try and luckily it washes out quickly! When showing my Mam the result, she thought that the blonde actually warmed my skin tone more than the lilac. With that comment in mind, I have decided once the lilac has washed out I'm going to go back to having the blonde dip dye again. I am intrigued with this whole new 'ombre' and 'dip dye' trend that is doing the rounds lately and want to try it out for myself, so stay tuned! :)

Thanks for reading! <3

  2. FUN! That's a nice little change. I did some purple back when I was in college paired with blonde...I'm pretty sure I fried my hair, though. ;) I was a lot more adventurous back then.
