A New Chapter Of My Life & A Mini Paperchase Haul

Hello lovelies!

Since finishing University in June, this will be my first September where I am not starting a new School/College/Sixth Form/or University year. It is a very strange feeling from being in education from very little and going through it for many years seems so normal and now to eventually be finished I'm very excited about not having to do all that and beginning a new chapter of my life is an awesome feeling. I finally feel more freedom and have spare time to enjoy doing things I haven't done in so long. People say the 'real world' is a scary place but honestly, I have never felt more at ease.

Onto the haul, September is usually the time to be starting a new chapter of School/College/University and I've always enjoyed getting myself prepared for it, there's always one thing I enjoy buying, yes you guessed it! It's stationary! I've been after a few bits and pieces to spruce up my boring desk space and Paperchase is by far my favourite stationary brand due to it's cute, quirky items which so perfectly fit my style so I naturally ventured in and came out with these goodies:

First we have the 'Beside the seaside' scrapbook, which I have bought to finally get round to sticking in the many magazine clippings I have collected over the years inside it as I have a ginormous pile next to my bed that needs a home and now I can get around to doing it.
Second is the patch work, hand-stitched journal. Those are my go-to favourites as I regularly write a diary and I really like these for the amount of paper you get, a comfortable size to carry round with you (if you prefer to do that) and the variety of ones they have are always so pretty and in such a range of colours. I also like the feel of them too. Next up is these ADORABLE turtle push pins! Honestly aren't they the cutest?!! Beats a boring circular, brass coloured pin doesn't it :)

These seriously cute pieces I just could not resist buying! The bunny is a hole puncher and the lady bird is a mini stapler. Adorable X 2!

Lastly are these postcards which have quotes on them. I chose these mainly for the quotes but I was also drawn in by the colours and the typography too (my inner artyness coming out there!). The idea I have for making use of these is to find some pretty frames for them and have them as decorative pieces around my room as I think they would brighten it up and look cute.

Thanks for reading and let me know below if you like any of these pieces too :)

    2. Hi kate!!

I totally went in today - spotted the journal but RESISTED (i don't know how?!) - i still have about 5 un-used ones that i've accumulated from there lol

i bought a really cute birthday card for my friend though, and did end up buying some really pretty lantern fairy lights in the sale!! oopsie.

oh cool that'd be awesome thank you!

so you're done with uni now yeh?? what are you upto at the mo? feels like such a long time ago now for me even though it was only 2 years...

    3. Hi again Shani!
Oh did you?!! Omg how did you resist it? But I suppose I'll let you off ;) haha!
That's no problem, happy to help :D
Yeah, I am currently working in retail as a sales assistant/visual merchandiser, the merchandising has been more recent and will be doing more of it next month which I'm excited for as I really enjoy it and hope to pursue that career route, I've actually been looking into short courses too as an option, but I'm undecided as of yet as I can learn on the job for free so who knows, maybe next year :D
I know, it feels long for me too even though it was only a few months ago haha! What did you study? Did you enjoy it? xx

    4. Hi Kate :)

oh cool that sounds really good! as long as you're enjoying your work - that's what's important i think!

I studied fashion design at nottingham trent, and yes I loved the whole uni experience, but realised that design possibly wasn't for me. I worked as a designer a bit after that, and now I'm working in buying which I really enjoy, and also working for a start up - www.stylehoney.com which is very exciting!

What did you study kate? was it something in the arts, or a totally different subject?

I know what you mean, there are great opportunities to learn on the job that actually don't require a degree even, which saves soooo much money! i wish i'd known... but at the time of going to uni, i was still unsure about what i wanted to do after. and i don't regret going for a second! only just starting to pay back my loan now though :/

    5. Hi Shani :)
Yeah I'm really enjoying it thanks :D
oh did you?! it sounds like you've had a very busy career so far and having lots of exciting experiences :D
Funnily enough I studied a design-based degree too, I studied Illustration and design, I hadn't done as well I had hoped so I don't know if that will effect my chances job wise so it put me off for a while, but I've always loved working retail and after doing my research it turns out my degree is a relevant qualification for VM work so it has a positive outlook :)

I'm thinking of maybe doing both, learn on the job and apply for some qualifications as well just so I have that something extra and learn more about it as I'm really intrigued and interested in it :D I know what you mean though, I didn't feel ready for Uni during sixth form and originally wanted to do a gap year but ended up going anyway, I also wish school had taught us about other options to take but it felt like it was either, go to uni, gap year or don't go, so I never knew any different tbh but never the less things happen for a reason :) I dread the day I have to start paying it back :( I feel your pain!
      xx

    6. Hi Kate!

sorry for my superrrr late reply!!

yeah i kind of just fell into things really... i think that's what happens to most people!!

VMing seems really cool actually - i met a girl who started work on primark shop floor, and now they have started hiring VMs for each of their stores, so she got offered that job as they knew she was inetersted in it - and she gets left alone most the time to design the displays how she wants, using a vague guideline that gets sent from head office.

oh don't even think about paying back the loan - i literally only just started paying it back last month and it goes out your pay check each month without you noticing it much at all :) i've heard if you leave the country for 7 years then they wipe it - so that's always an option haha!

I totally believe things happen for a reason, and if you work hard, you will get where you want to be, it just takes time and putting the effort in, and NEVER giving up :)

      xo

    7. Hi Shani :)

Haha no problem :D wow that sounds so cool what your friend does :)
Does it really?! that's ridiculous that it writes it off like that, there's almost no point in even paying it back haha!
Yes I completely agree, you always say such inspiring things :D I love it!
      xx

    8. Hi Kate :) yeah i think you'd really enjoy it if VM is what you wanna go into... Primark is a great place to be right now.

Ha i know it's crazy?! rumours though... don't know anyone who has actually had this happen to them!

awww that's so nice of you to say, thanks hun! i just try to be positive and self-motivate myself every day, because then you just get the best out of yourself which is really important i think :)
