Ed Sheeran's The Divide ÷ Tour At St James' Park, Newcastle

"Darling just hold my hand, be my girl, I'll be your man,
I see my future in your eyes,
baby I'm dancing in the dark, with you between my arms,
barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song"

Your girl did good! For Christmas I surprised Dan with tickets for us to see Ed Sheeran at St James' Park and the look on his face when he opened his present was so worth it. It was months before that I'd seen the tickets on sale and remembering how Dan had mentioned he'd love to see Ed Sheeran live one time, so I couldn't quite believe my eyes, even more so when I managed to get the tickets. Even when the confirmation came through I still was in disbelief that I managed to get them, assuming they would be sold out within minutes. Fast forward to months later and there we were living our best lives watching one of his favourite solo artists performing.

Anne Marie was the support act and we were gutted we had just got there and missed her perform as she is another artist who we equally enjoy, but it wasn't long to wait before Ed took to the stage. One thing that stood out aside from his obvious amazing talent, was the fantastic stage effects and animations throughout the performances and how they linked to each song (the lion one was a personal favourite!). The atmosphere throughout St James' Park was incredible, I think with having the concert open air (and lucky to have good weather for once!) really added to the mood and energy projected around the stadium. Everyone dancing and singing along to his lyrics and using the torches on their phones to light up the stadium in the dusk. There was even a proposal during his performance of 'Perfect' which was very cute!

It was definitely up there as one of those concerts to remember. A perfect summer evening well spent with fantastic music, brilliant atmosphere and of course, the best company. There are some of Ed's songs that hold special meanings and memories to Dan and I, so getting to hear and see them performed live with him is a memory I'll never forget. As you can expect Ed Sheeran was equally incredible live as he is on his records. To me that proves how talented he really is. He was great with the crowd and engaging throughout. I never thought in my lifetime I'd ever get to see Ed Sheeran perform live so to be able to do so and especially with the one I love made it all the more special.
