How My Blog Started:

I started my blog almost 5 years ago now (bloggaversary coming soon!) back in April 2012 after discovering bloggers in Company magazine and thought how refreshing it was to find a magazine that included people I could relate to and be inspired by. I relished in the idea that it could be done anywhere and could be about anything you like and as an avid documenter I always loved the idea of documenting my life online as I've done so when I was younger (hello Piczo & Myspace days!) and felt this was the next transition for me. I was keen to do something creative and help improve my photography and share what I'd been up to with others who may share the same interests and curiosity like I did and still do. Not that I personally think my photography has improved all that much but I enjoy it still none the less. I remember I'd been swimming that day, back in the days of having lots of free time around University and deciding to be active for a change (ha!) and was contemplating it for quite some time and came to the conclusion that if I was thinking about doing it this much, I should at least try it and see how it goes and if it doesn't work out then at least I'd have no regrets that I didn't try and thus VioletDaffodils was born!

Advice to New Bloggers:

Engage Engage Engage

For me this is something I learned very quickly and I make sure I utilise this to this very day. Always make an effort with other bloggers and blogs. Even when I haven't posted something new for a while, I'm always still making the effort to read other blogs because I'm interested in what other people have to say. Make an effort to interact and engage with others. I'm always looking around for new blogs to follow and I enjoy commenting on blogs and I make sure to check out other blog links that are being shared on social media. Twitter is mainly the big one for me. I'm always lurking around and clicking through to shared blog links. The amount of tabs I have open at times is absolutely crazy! I also love pinning useful articles to my Pinterest. Even just a simple like or retweet of a tweet sharing the post can make someone's day too.  I admit I'd like to interact much more on Twitter but I am actually rather aware of how awkward I am and how my sense of humour doesn't communicate all that well online so I'm slowly but surely trying to improve on this. Although knowing me I'd be replying to everyone on my feed and end up looking incredibly spammy! I like a lot of things, so sue me! As well as me commenting on a blog, also if someone has taken the time to leave me a comment I always make sure to reply and click through to their links and look at their blog too and leave a comment. I like the sense of community with blogging and think it should always be important.

If there is any other ways I can engage more please feel free to let me know :)

Inspiration Is Everywhere

We've all had those days where we stare at our blank post writing page and think 'what the eff should I write about', I hold my hands up straight away and I admit this is probably really hypocritical of me. While I'm a firm believer of not forcing yourself to write if the motivation isn't there. I do believe that inspiration is found all over and can definitely help trigger motivation. If you are stuck on ideas, think of what you are interested in. If it's beauty, have you purchased something new lately? have you tried a new product? or if you like video games, are you anticipating a new release of a game? have you finished playing a new game? There is all sorts of questions you can ask yourself. There's also tags and awards you can have fun with (like this one!), local places to visit and to eat at you can try and review, a holiday you've been on, talk about your favourite artists or art work, the latest book you've read, what you've added to your bullet journal, what you've been up to that week, you get the idea.
Now that you have the inspiration for your new post where is it going to go? One of my favourite things to do is note any ideas down that I have. If you have everything ready for it then by all means post it out as soon as it's ready. However if you have just got the idea then I'd definitely recommend writing it down somewhere. I've got so many drafts of posts on my account of ideas that I could do for a future post. I have notes on my phone of ideas and even write in a little notebook too. I even occasionally draw out ideas in a notebook for reference. You could also create a Pinterest board of ideas you have seen or images for reference for your post idea. I'd also recommend taking a camera around with you incase you have an sudden photo ops that would make for a great post. This is something I'd like to do myself once I've invested in a new camera :)

I Nominate:

Make sure to check them all out because they all post amazing content :)

Thank you so much for reading and hope this has been useful to some of you or even helpful, I thought this was a really fun tag to do and if you have any other pieces of advise you'd like to share then feel free to share them below :) And also a special thank you again to Hannah from Luxury Blush for tagging me in this, it means a lot and I had fun answering it!
