Work's Christmas Dinner At The Artisan in Newcastle

Today we had our work's annual Christmas dinner which was held over at the Artisan Restaurant which is part of The Biscuit Factory, the Contemporary art gallery in Newcastle. I can't quite believe how quickly it has come around, it doesn't feel that long ago we were planning where to have it. I also can't believe it has been my 3rd Christmas dinner with the team.

As someone who wasn't always adventurous with food, usually a set menu at a restaurant fills me with complete dread but I really enjoyed the food we had this year. Last year we went for a more Asian cuisine to break up the usual tradition which was good to try but I must admit I do enjoy a more traditional Christmas dinner. I had crispy fishcakes for my starter, followed by breast of free range turkey with vegetables and pigs in blankets and finishing with a buttermilk panna cotta for dessert, whilst washing them all down with a margarita cocktail or two, naturally! All of which were incredibly delicious!

I always look forward to the annual dinner as it is a chance to spend time with everyone out of the office environment, having a few drinks, touring the many bars and pubs of Newcastle, eating good food in great company and potentially having a dance or two at the end of the night to all the Christmas classics like Mariah Carey and The Pogues. It also makes me feel super festive and excited for spending Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day with my family and loved ones.

Thank you for reading! And Merry Christmas to you all!

(Edit from the day after: After what happened last year, it was safe to say I made up for it this year, partying 'til the early hours of the morning. Woke up today with possibly the worst hangover I've had in years! Worth it though ;) )
