Hello and welcome to the first instalment of my Animal Crossing New Horizons blog series! After giving you an introduction to the series in my last post, today I will begin with the beginning of the game. As soon as the game loads you are at a check in desk in an airport. A feature that I love as I feel it has evolved from the previous series' train journeys and taxi rides. Initially you are greeted by Timmy and Tommy, who fans of the series will already know of as the nephews of Tom Nook. They give a warm welcome and a brief introduction to themselves before getting started straight away with gathering your details in order to set up the game.

Now for the fun bit! The next step is the character creation stage. A relatively new feature to Animal Crossing. So long are the days of giving answers to the most random questions which then determine your appearance, hooray! I tried to base my character on myself as near enough as I could get. So I chose a female character, straight dark brown hair with a fringe, brown eyes with my personal favourite eye shape as they look so cute and show the eye colour off brightly whilst also having big long eyelashes, a classic Animal Crossing triangle shape nose and simple smile, fair skin tone and a blush on the cheeks since there wasn't an option for freckles. There aren't many hairstyles initially so I wasn't able to choose my favourite pony tail hairstyle but other styles can be unlocked later on in the game so I look forward to seeing what options are available then.

Character all done. Now the next stage of getting started is a new feature to this series introduced to this game which is choosing where in the world you live and choosing between northern and southern hemispheres. This new feature effects certain seasonal changes and the types of bugs and fish you can catch based on where you live in the world which I think is really cool new feature! After choosing which hemisphere, you are given the option of 4 maps to choose from. For me, it was a toss up between the bottom two. I chose the bottom left as I wanted the Town Plaza to be close to where I was planning on putting my house, which was next to the beach.

Until next time!
