Spring Moments

1. Blue skies and cherry blossoms.
2. Little lambs grazing in the fields.
3. Daffodils! My favourite flowers in bloom.
4. Chocolate! Scoffing all the malteaster rabbits, mini eggs and cream eggs.
5. Planning fresh new pages in my journal.
6. Evenings by the beach eating all the ice cream.
7. Burning my scented candles on a night and feeling all cosy in my extremely soft Cath Kidston pajamas.

What are your favourite things about spring time?

My First Vlog

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!
So I did something a little crazy for me and actually created a video and uploaded it to Youtube! I've been wanting to create a video for a little while but I was a little afraid of taking the plunge and aside from that I wasn't sure what I would make a video about. Eventually I bit the bullet and decided to create a video compilation of a few video clips from different adventures and compile them into one little vlog. I really like watching these types of videos myself so thought it might be interesting to create my own. It's not amazing by any means but I just wanted to have a little fun playing around with video clips and experiment with video editing just to try it out and get out of my comfort zone. I've included the video below so feel free to give it a watch if you'd like to. As always thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the video!
Music: End of Summer by The 126ers
Also thought I'd include a video I took of the Wishes fireworks display in Disney World, although note I was unable to use the music from the show so had to change it to something else. Either way I hope you enjoy watching!

My First Papergang Subscription Box: April 2017- Arden Rose X OhhDeer

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!
If you didn't already know this about me, I love getting new stationary. I always remember when I was still in school, before the new school year began I'd go to my local W H Smiths and treat myself to new stationary for the coming year and it would make me so excited and motivated for starting school. Fast forward many years and although I don't attend school anymore, I still get that same excited feeling when I go into a stationary shop: beautifully patterned notebooks, delicately illustrated cards and quirky pens and pencils. A good example of this is my stationary haul I did a few years ago now. I think it stems from my creative background. From Art being my favourite subject throughout school to my degree in Illustration and Design. I love looking at other designers works and can find it really inspiring.

OhhDeer
I came across OhhDeer a few years ago after coming across some of their beautiful notebooks in Urban Outfitters and on Asos. It was only more recently I would buy directly through the site once I realised there was one. I'm a huge Gemma Correll fan and upon discovering they stocked her illustrative work I was over the moon. I also discovered some more amazing artists such as Lucie Sheridan , Sophie Corrigan , David Olenick and many more. They stock stationary, books, home wares, post cards and gift wrap to name a few.
Papergang
Papergang is a monthly subscription box by OhhDeer of stationary which includes a good mix of stationary pieces from what I've seen previously and from what I've noticed in my first box and from what I gather, each month has a specific illustrator that designs pieces for that box. The products inside the box do go up on the website eventually too so if you see something in particular that you like, you can guarantee it will end up on their website at a later time. However the beauty of the this box is that you pay around £11.90 for a box, including postage but the total of the products altogether can cost much more than that so I think personally it's definitely worth the money. I first heard of Papergang after watching Vicky from VVNightingale 's Youtube videos of her Papergang unboxing videos. I was really intrigued by the boxes and really enjoyed seeing what stationary was included in the boxes each month so finally decided I'd treat myself and order one for myself.

The Designers
For this month, when I first signed up for the subscription, it didn't mention who was the designer originally. Then about a week or so later it mentioned Arden Rose. I thought this was a unique take on what I've previously seen, having a youtuber involved in the creation of the pack. So I was looking forward to seeing what was inside as I love her channel. From what I gather, I don't think Arden specifically designed anything in the box (correct me if I'm wrong!) which is bit of a shame if that is the case as it would have been interesting to have a youtuber design their own box, but it's not the end of the world if it isn't the case. Perhaps she chose some products she liked from the website and that was put together. I'm just taking guesses here! I did notice in the note you get with the box that the products inside were designed by both OhhDeer design team and Amy Lesko. Anyway enough of the back story I'll stop rambling now and show you what is inside!

What's Inside
A Beautifully Designed Box with an Origami rose to make
A rose. Arden Rose. I see what you did there OhhDeer!

A Message with Product Listing
This is really useful as I love seeing who designed what so that if I like their design style I will definitely check them out and keep an eye out for their work again in future.
Sticker set
Personally sticker sets aren't my thing. I have a few for my journal but I don't really care much for them, however I do think this set is really cute and I do like Amy's illustrative style.
Two cards: A Birthday card & A Thank You card
I like this idea of getting cards inside the box. My mam is one of those people who always seems to have a box of spare cards lying around which I think is great in case of an emergency like a forgotten birthday. So inspired by my mother I'm going to start my own collection of cards now with the cards I receive in this box.
To Do list notepad, a pencil & a June calendar
This is great! I'm always on the look out for to do list notepads as I'm an avid list maker so I'm in my element with this. Also I really like the cute illustrations on it. I didn't realise straight away until I took these photographs but the pencil has a cute little smiley face on it too which I thought was a sweet touch. And the calendar is something I'd never come across before I looked on OhhDeer's website but I think they are really useful, especially to those of you who like the bullet journal as it would save you having to draw out your own monthly calendar, you could add a pop of colour by sticking on of these in your journal instead.
A5 Planner
This is so cute. I like the layout inside, very simple in design and straightforward to understand. I love the design on the cover especially and also it's the perfect size to carry around with you in your bag.

Verdict
Overall I think this is a brilliant subscription box for those of you, like myself who love discovering different illustrators and designers. It's a great way to give them that extra exposure for their work and of course it's brilliant for those of you that have a big love of stationary too. It also shows great products that would be great for gift ideas, it's really affordable and you definitely get your moneys worth. I'm very happy with this box and I'm already highly anticipating the next one!
And also thanks again to Vicky for her videos that
Let me know what you think of this box below :)
Thanks for reading!

TRAVEL DIARY: NEW YORK

Hello everyone!
Welcome back to my blog. If you follow me on Twitter, you will have seen that I had spent New Year over in New York. It was a holiday I had always wanted to do and was finally able to do it and ended up being an amazing trip. I thought I'd share it with you and let you know what we got up to whilst we were there. So I hope you enjoy :)
Also a pre warning: This post is longer than I usually post due to it being pretty photo heavy. I preferred to get all the trip condensed down into one long post as opposed to lots of smaller posts so I'd recommend getting yourself a cuppa at the ready just incase or if you cba to read everything, I hope you enjoy the photographs hahaha ;)

TRAVEL DIARY: NEW YEAR, NEW YORK

Hello everyone!
Welcome back to my blog. Before I begin, I just want to say thank you so much for all your amazing comments and kind words on my last post. I was seriously blown away by all the support, especially after being away from blogging for such a long time, I was made to feel welcomed back with open arms which was really sweet so thank you :)
For the New Year 2017, we made plans to go away over New Year to New York as it has been something we've both wanted to do for so long and because of my old job working in retail, you are never allowed to take time off over December- January time, so now that I have my current job I was finally able to go away over the holidays! I found it really strange packing for a cold weather holiday as I'd never done that before but found it surprisingly easy when I was basically packing what I'd wear on a normal day in the UK. After an absolute nightmare of a time travelling there and getting completely lost on the way to the hotel, we eventually made it there in one piece and just in time to get ourselves ready for our New Year's Eve plans.
We stayed at the INNSIDE New York Nomad hotel which was wonderful. The staff were brilliant, they were always really friendly and more than happy to help you out with any queries and the decor was gorgeous too both around the hotel and our room, especially with it still being around the holidays, it was still all christmassy in the lobby too with a big christmas tree covered in golden decorations. We got to our room and we had an incredible view of the Empire State Building right outside our window which made it extra special. Especially as for New Year it was lit up with all these beautiful colours (shown above) and changed to green and red the other days we were there.
Once we were settled into our room and unloaded our cases, we began getting ready for the night. We had booked tickets for the New Year's Eve Cruise aboard the Atlantis Yacht which was a boat cruise along the Hudson river with a buffer dinner, open bar and a dance floor, as well as free champagne to toast at midnight and a beautiful view of the fireworks over the Statue of Liberty. We did our research before we left and found that Times Square at midnight wasn't all it cracked up to be so we thought the boat cruise sounded amazing and would be much more intimate and memorable event for us to attend.
Dress: TFNC London, Heels: Dune, Bag (not shown): Versus Versace, Earrings (not shown): Vivienne Westwood.

As the dress code was black tie optional, I had been unsure about what was acceptable attire but I had managed to get in touch with a member of the events team to confirm what sort of outfit was acceptable and they were happy to help which I thought was really good that they did that and when we were onboard the yacht there was a mix of super glam, formal and smart casual, so it was a good mix. The issue I had was when I was looking around online for more information about the yacht event there wasn't a lot that was given away about how it looked inside or what the dress code looked like so hopefully this gives a little more of an idea. I opted for this TFNC paris scallop gold sequinned dress from TFNC London which I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. I had looked for other options too just to make sure it was definitely what I wanted, I had looked at others that were maybe more on the 'super glam' side but I kept finding myself being drawn to this one over and over again and it was cheaper than other ones I'd seen so saved myself some pennies! I teamed it with my Vivienne Westwood drop orb earrings, midnight blue sparkly nails for a contrast, with Versus Versace lion head shoulder bag and with my pewter heels from Dune to complete the look.

The whole night was fantastic! We shared a table with two welsh couples and two german couples and everyone was so welcoming and friendly which made it even more special having others who were so easy going and of course, in the festive spirit too. The food was so delicious, with a good variety to pick from and the bar had also created their own special cocktail menu for the night too. When it was close to midnight we stood out on the middle deck out the back as it was so cold on the top deck so you were a bit more sheltered from the wind where we were and had the most incredible view of New York skyline from the yacht. The DJ began the countdown and played all the celebratory songs, everyone around us cheering and shouting 'Happy New Year!' at the tops of their lungs and hugging their loved ones and then watching the fireworks over the Statue of Liberty began whilst Frank Sinatra's New York, New York and Alicia Keys' New York played as the soundtracks to the occasion. It was honestly one of those 'pinch me' moments and a memory that will stick for me for the rest of my life. It was absolutely perfect and such a wonderful way to celebrate the New Year.
Thank you for reading and hope you all had a fabulous time celebrating the new year too!
Let me know in the comments what you all got up to yourselves as I'd love to read them :) Thanks!

My Goals For 2017

Hello everyone!

Hope you all had an amazing time celebrating the New Year. As usual with this time of year, many of us like to take some time to reflect on old resolutions and goals and begin creating new fresh ones for the year. I thought I would share with you some of mine. I've decided this year for my goals to create more than usual to give myself more of a challenge. I feel like now that they are out on the internet I have more of an obligation to complete them haha! I hope you enjoy reading through and who knows, you may also find some ideas for your own goals. So lets begin:

Take video clips on trips and holidays

This was the first one I had planned towards the end of 2016. On Christmas Eve, my family and I have a tradition of watching old family videos and we dug out an old cinema video that my granddad took when my dad was a young boy and I felt so inspired by those videos. The videos originally had sound on the old copies but when converted they lost their sound, but I found that really interesting that even though there was no volume, we still found it enjoyable. Especially in this new age of vlogging I found it quite refreshing to watch videos that didn't have to be perfectly edited and not for the intention of views and likes. I always had this idea that one day when I had children I would take videos but then after watching these videos it got me thinking why wait? why don't I just start now? It'd be great to look back one day and see videos of my life before children like when I move into my first home or when I eventually get my future chocolate labrador puppy. So until those days come I'd like to create my own documentations of trips or holidays for my own personal enjoyment to one day look back on.

Edit at least one video

This goes hand in hand with the previous goal. I do have a few video clips from previous holidays and trips from over the years that are sitting there in my folders waiting for something to be done with them. I feel like this year should be the year I actually compile them into a full video.

Save money & Don't touch it!

After a discussion with my dad on Christmas Day about how I save money. This is something I'm going to try out. I have a tendency to save money consistently but end up putting it towards things like holidays and more for 'right now' type of things and end up spending a chunk out of it, whereas I need to start saving for my future e.g. saving for a house. That kind of thing. Which I'm going to try and do both. Still save up for 'right now' plans but also put money aside to go towards my future and that account will be one I don't touch. I feel at 24 that is probably a good time to start and I probably should have done this earlier.
Blog more

An obvious one really. I've missed blogging so much and I don't do it as much as I used to / I'd like to. During my second year at university I seemed to go downhill with not finding the time and then beating myself up about wanting to blog 'all this time you want to blog, you could be doing uni work' like a voice in my head scolding me. Eventually after uni, I got so caught up with working that I felt blogging was a bit of a chore for me and that I shouldn't force it. But I feel this is the year that I will contribute to it more. I'm not saying I will blog all the time, but I definitely want more posts to come out this year and still continue be involved in the community whether that's on social media or commenting on other people's blogs. Also with my current job role, I hope to blog more for that too, so either for work or for a hobby suits me just fine!

Read at least one book

I've started to grow a pile of unread books and have a terrible habit of buying more without reading those I do have. I used to be this person who could read a book in a night and be able to switch off from the world and just read. I feel like more recent years I only tend to read if I'm relaxing by the pool on a holiday which yeah is a good thing that I'm reading a little bit, but I'd like to get back into reading more in my spare time too not just when I'm away. I've set myself the goal of one and anymore is just an added bonus!
Write in my diary/ Print off old diary

This is something that is extremely difficult when you've been away from it for so long. I stopped writing in my diary 2 years ago, the day a loved one passed away. As much as I wanted to write, I didn't want to bring up those sad feelings I'd had so I pushed it aside for a long time. Eventually over time I found it easier to type up everything as opposed to pen to paper, but this year I want to physically write properly. I also want to print off the diary I had wrote those 2 years on my computer and stick it into a physical book.

Print off photographs

I am terrible at this! Years ago I was the girl who would print pictures off almost every week. But now I haven't printed off pictures since I was about 18! That is 6 years ago now! Holy Sh-
I have files on my computer full of pictures I need to print off, like holiday photos and days out with friends. I'm keeping this one at a pretty slow pace too, as printing photos off can cost a fair bit,  but every so often I'll make sure to print some off. Also I'm sure my computer could benefit with the extra space that has been taken up of photographs I bet.

Spend more time with family/ Invest more time in those I care about

This is more of a reminder for myself. Especially my grandparents. I used to think my grandparents were invincible, well my whole family really. Which I learnt the hard way when a loved one passed away. I feel terrible that it took something like that to make me realise this. It shook me up massively and made me realise that I need to spend more time with them as much as I can which I want to do more of this year. Also another key thing I learned too was how much I used to invest my time with people that ended up not being good friends. Feeling forced into situations with people I didn't click with or toxic people who made me feel rubbish about myself. This is the year I will be selfish about this and put my foot down, which sounds horrible I know, but I'd prefer to see myself surrounded by people I love and who make me happy. In doing so creates more happy times. So more happy times this year please!
Personal Development

There is a few in this list of mine, so the title is just a summary of them all. Again some of these are just a friendly reminder and a nudge to myself. The first being to do more of what makes ME happy and to only live up to my own expectations and not others. This is something I feel like I do already but it needs more of, over the last few years I've begun to not be put off by other's opinions and expectations but sometimes annoyingly I do still get that niggley feeling or thought. I want this year to be the year I refuse to let those niggles in at all. If you spend your life trying to make others happy, you'll never live a happy life. Trust me. Do what makes you happy and if people have something to say then give them a polite smile and nod and just go back to being awesome.

And the next part of this is to restore the confidence I've lost from last year and rely on myself to make me feel good about myself, not others. Sounds weird but I've always taken pride in being confident and happy in my own skin, a trait I've learned to have from a young age due to ridicule earlier on in life and even now I get the odd sly comment here and there and been lucky to usually have an immunity to it, which for some reason means people judge me for being happy in my own skin. I know people even now think it's big headed of me to admit this and I never understand why that is a bad thing. I've accepted my flaws and insecurities early on in my life due to those things and majority of the time I laugh it off and have learned to laugh at myself about them. I live my life trying not to dwell on those things. I was never the super hot girl or the most popular and I'm proud of that because I never wanted to be and I've lived a happy life doing what I enjoy. When I was younger some people would think I was weird for being more into playing video games than clothes and makeup. But I never saw the issue with that and looking back I love the fact I was like that and that I have friends and loved ones even now who still love me being that kind of person.
But last year I seemed to notice more negativity from different people towards how I look, what I wear, my personality, the things I enjoy or maybe its always been there but rather than laugh it off I've started to listen to those negative comments more and feel self conscious about who I am and how others perceive me to a point where I would hold back certain traits of my personality and I hate being made to feel like that and more importantly annoyed at myself the fact I allow myself to let that bother me to the point where I feel the need to do that. And it's strange because I don't know why this has suddenly been the case, but to help myself out I've started to adopt a new mentality of never again being made to feel like I can't be myself and that those people are the problem not me and also to start allowing the opinions of those I care about and opinions of people I trust to be the only ones I listen to. I realise people are always going to have an opinion on you, I just have to teach myself to listen to the ones that are constructive rather than just sly. So I will try and persist with this for 2017 and hopefully see some positive results. Ok that just got real so lets move on.

Take better care of myself

Now all the heavy stuff is out of the way. The next one is an all round one. I want to devote more time to looking after myself. I work from home for my job so making sure I get outside is crucial to me, whether its at the weekends or later on in the evening. Maybe at a push even exercise a little. None of this 'this is a new year I need to join the gym' (no offence to anyone its just not me!) just something simple that can be even be done at home, doing pilates and yoga or dancing around my room like a lunatic or actually going outside for a walk. Also I work from my room, so making sure my room is a clean space and clutter free. A tidy room is a tidy mind. Taking time to pamper myself to help with boosting my confidence again, experimenting with new makeup looks, hair styles or outfits that I feel good in and feel daring enough to wear out. Look after my skin more. Also continuing to organise my wardrobe and beauty storage. You get the idea.
Have a holiday

Ending on a relaxing one here. I always have this on my list of goals each year, because I find it important to work towards something and to take some time off. Although technically I've already done this as I was away over New Year (post to come soon!) but yes have a holiday where I can relax, preferably by the pool in the sunshine with a cocktail in hand and a book in the other. Bliss!

Thank you for reading!
Let me know what one of your resolutions or goals for the new year are below :)
